Millennium Development Goals

At GSK, we have an important role to play in improving the health and well-being of millions of people around the world. We want to help people to do more, feel better and live long healthy lives, wherever they are in the world.

Since their conception in the year 2000, we have been contributing to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) on many fronts. The eight MDGs provide a global blueprint to help meet the needs of the world's poorest people and huge progress has been made against these goals. But there is much more to be done.

As these goals draw to a close in 2015, attention is turning to how we generate sustainable development. Health plays an integral role in this – countries can only thrive if their populations are healthy – and we are committed to playing our part in realising sustainable development post-2015.

By this we mean developing our business in a way that takes into account social, economic and environmental considerations; and striving to create a world that is fair, equitable and inclusive for future generations.

On this page you will find a snapshot of how we are working to help achieve each of the MDGs. For a more detailed look at how we are contributing, download our Millennium Development Goals factsheet (PDF).
